THE ANT - Your Mentor

Image
By: Orakwue Chukwuebuka Joshua  He walked passed the Lion, walked passed the Elephant, the Rhino, the Buffalo, passed the Leopard, the Fox, the Rabbit........... "Oh!! I've gotta explain and show to man the way of wisdom; He needs a mentor........." This was God's thought, for man was in desperate need of a mentor. ........Passed the hyena, the eagle, the duck, the beetle.........  Finally, there in a little hole in the sand was a group of tiny creatures, going about their business with such determination and purpose, and He pointed and spoke "There......  Look man! There's your mentor; THE ANT. One would think that if God was to express Himself through any creature, he would use something big like the elephant; to show how mighty he is, Or something fast like the cheetah; to show how quickly he can answer your prayers. But instead he says : "There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: The ants...

CODEINE; The Growing Addiction

Image
Over three million bottles of codeine syrup are consumed daily in Kano and Jigawa states!!! Yes, you read that correctly!!! Three Thousand!! (3000) THE Senate, yesterday, raised the alarm that the 19 Northern states of the federation were under serious threat due to drug abuse, stating that over three million bottles of codeine syrup were consumed daily in Kano and Jigawa states. It disclosed that across the 19 states, women, young girls in tertiary institutions, working class ladies, married, unemployed women displaced by Boko Haram insurgency, among others, were involved in drug abuse, and that in 2015 alone, over 2,205 people were arrested in North-West geo-political zone by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, over drug-related abuses. Is Codeine Harmful? Codeine is typically administered in liquid or pill form (frequently in combination with acetaminophen), and when used under the direction of a medical professional, codeine is a relatively safe way to ...

THE GIRL CHILD

Image
An Article Written by Joy Iwezu. When I think about the girl child, I think about me. The Girl Child is a powerful being that possesses unique traits and characteristics that makes her not only a woman but a force to be reckoned with in a world where strength and virtue is on a constant decline. There is more to the Girl Child that meets the eye; she is more than a wife, a mother, a sister; she is the channel through which the balance of human existence is built upon. She is a life giver and the sole connection between the idea of life and life itself. With all of these in mind, one will expect that the Girl Child will be the most respected and accomplished being across nations taking giant strides in the different sectors available within her immediate environment and beyond but this is not the case in our present day society. Today, the Girl Child is marginalized; she is abused, relegated, shoved aside and given second place where first can be attained. Her gender has become ...

STAMPS AND STAGES...

Image
I'd never seen as many stamps as I did in the past week. They came in different shapes, colours and sizes. Oh Yes. I had a lot of 'stampy' experiences in the past week whilst going about my final clearance in school. And Yes. I'm officially an alumni of COOU.... At each office I visited, there had to be a stamp appended on my clearance form, showing I had fulfilled the requirements at that stage, and then and only then could I move to the next stage of the clearance. This, as stressful and time consuming as it was, taught me valuable lessons. Life as we know it is in stages. Everybody, irrespective of age is at one stage or the other in His life; be it physically, academically, financially, spiritually, etc. We all want to go a step further; advance to that next stage; hit the next level financially, operate on higher levels of the anointing, etc. While this is wonderful, it is important to note that you cannot get to that next stage of you have not been f...

God's faithfulness , Bliss, Stages - WELCOME BACK

Image
By: Orakwue Chukwuebuka Joshua WELL....  IT'S BEEN A WHILE!!! Sometimes, you've gotta lay low for a while, get off the hustle and bustle of the internet and attend to certain pressing issues. Indeed the past week has been quite educative and I'm left with a feeling of BLISS..... God is indeed faithful. His faithfulness cannot be comprehended. Sometimes, we try to do it all by ourselves, but.......... GOD IS FAITHFUL!!! Life is indeed in stages and phases. There are lots of people are struggling hard to get admitted into the higher institutions, meanwhile those of them already there can't wait to get out.......... And the sequence continues. What's important is that we make the best out of each stage we are in presently, whilst preparing and planning for the next stage. And guess what? Who has ever heard of 'ALUMNA'? Well, I just did. I had always thought a graduate from a University was called an Alumnus, and the plural - Alumni. Ju...

Faith Without Love is DEAD!!!

Image
by Gloria Copeland Have you ever wondered what faith and love have to do with one another? How are they connected? Let’s examine this connection. Galatians 5:6 says, “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” Faith works by love. It is energized by love. Faith is put into motion by love. Why is that? Well, most of us are probably familiar with the Apostle Paul’s teaching on love in 1 Corinthians 13. But as we read verses 1-3 in The Amplified Bible, I want us to focus on the faith-love connection. " If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love...I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers...and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody). Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned......

THE FOOD WARRIORS; What role do I play? How do I fight?

Image
Women produce between 60 and 80 per cent of the food in most developing countries and are responsible for half of the world's food production, yet their key role as food producers and providers and their critical contribution to household food security is only recently becoming recognised. FAO studies confirm that while women are the mainstay of small-scale agriculture, farm labour force and day-to-day family subsistence, they have more difficulties than men in gaining access to resources such as land and credit and productivity enhancing inputs and services. Given women's crucial role in food production and provision, any set of strategies for sustainable food security must address their limited access to productive resources security must address their limited access to productive resources: • Ensure that women have equal opportunities with men to own land; • Facilitate women's access to agricultural services tailoring such services to their needs; • Encourage...

OCTOBER; A change-up

Image
It's a New Month Dare to Give Jesus Everything A prosperous soul is so vital. To prosper means to become active and strong, to thrive and flourish. When God moves in and you give Him full access to your soul, He heals your soul with His presence and allows it to flourish. When God moves in, we move on. Because we’re able to. Without Him, we cannot do it. We will inevitably become weary and run out of steam. It is God’s power that is made perfect in our weakness, not our own. The key to moving from a damaged, shame-filled life to a whole, shame-free life is allowing the healing power of the love of God to permeate every crevice of our wounded soul and bring healing, wholeness, and strength. What a contrast—it’s not about our doing more for God; it’s about giving God more access so He can do more in us. It is only when God does more in us that He can do more through us. Invite God to move into those deep places so that you can move past your past, so that you can over...

57 years old. Any positives? HAPPY INDEPENDENCE NIGERIA

Image
OCTOBER 1, 1960: How Nigerians ushered in independence ON day like this, exactly 57 years ago, Nigeria was on a festive and historic mood. It was the eve of October 1, 1960, the day that the United Kingdom had set aside to grant Nigeria independence as a sovereign state. The political and social atmosphere was astir. The reasons were not far-fetched given the dreams of the founding fathers – late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, late Sir Ahmadu Bello and late Chief Obafemi Awolowo among others as well as what the prospects of self-rule portended for the emerging black nation. Although, the then three regions -Northern, Eastern and Western had been administered by Nigerians, who superintended as premiers for six years, Nigerians could not wait to collect the mantle of leadership, at the centre, from the last British Governor-General of Nigeria, Sir James Robertson. It was thus not surprising that elaborate preparations were made, across the country, for the historic occasion. There was ...

Pillars of a healthy lifestyle: SLEEP

Image
Pillar 2: Sleep and Rest  "He gives His beloved sleep." Psalm 127:2 Last time on 'Secrets of a healthy lifestyle', we examined; in my opinion; the most important natural gift; water. We looked at how just a little dehydration could affect the entire body functions. In the Second Edition of this subject, we will consider yet another important pillar of health; SLEEP .  Not just sleep, but good sleep. Every night while you sleep, your body goes into a type of repair mode to regenerate and rejuvenate. Your immune system recharges. Your major organs are restored. Old cells are replaced with new ones. Your mind relaxes and orders its thoughts, creating a healthy mental and emotional state. But just as many Americans live in a state of unrecognized dehydration, many also live on the brink of mental and physical collapse because of lack of sleep. The No. 1 complaint I hear from patients who come into my office is, "I'm tired." They slump forw...

Where are the FOOD WARRIORS??? Part 1

Image
Calling all Food Warriors!!! Just got word. There's a plot against Mr. Food. Turns out Mr. Poverty, Mazi pollution and Mr. Poisoning are angry with Mr. Food. But why should they be? Mr. Food has been one of the greatest blessings to mankind. Without him, we all may not still be alive. We can't let this happen ooo. Where are the food warriors?? It's our job to secure Mr. Food and make sure he is safe and available to us all. Well, ever since I heard my very dear friend Miracle Ewim brand herself as a 'Food Warrior' I've been i and wondering 'what does that mean?' First and foremost, let's know that one of the Basic Human Rights is the Right to food which is the right for people to feed themselves in dignity , implying that sufficient food is available, that people have the means to access it, and that it adequately meets the individual's dietary needs. The right to food protects the right of all human beings to be free from hunger , fo...

The Drunkard Man: Never Quit!

Image
“When you feel you have pushed your life to the limit and you can’t go any further, give that obstacle one last push because that might be the one that gets you through that heavy door to success! If you don’t try that one last time, you may never know. Go for it!” Topic — The Drunkard Man: Never Quit! [Saturday, September 30, 2017] (Proverbs 4:20-26; Psalms 121:1-2). The Late Dr. Ken McFarland loved to always tell this popular, funny but inspirational story which I am sure you must have heard at one time or the other. I am led to use it today: “ A man who worked from 6 pm (night shift) – 6am normally walked home through the local town cemetery as a short-cut to his home. One night, as he was walking through the same regular route, he did not realize that during the day, a fresh grave had been dug in the very center of his path. He stepped right into the grave and started struggling to get out. His best efforts failed him. He decided to relax there till the morning when help would ...

DON'T BE THE GUINEA PIG!!!

Image
Topic: Don't Be The Guinea Pig! — Saturday 30, September 2017. Memorise:   Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. –  1 Corinthians 10:6 Read:  1 Corinthians 10:1-12  (KJV) 1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fo...

THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

Image
Orakwue C. J "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." The Name that was given to Him was not Jesus. The name Jesus was given to him at His birth. Even to this day, people answer the name Jesus. Christ was the name He assumed when He became full of the Spirit. 'LORD' was conferred upon Him. That is the Name: LORD Many Christians have a revelation of Jesus as Christ,  but they do not know Him as Lord. Lord refers to someone who is master, ruler, sovereign controller. It gives you a picture of one, who either by his own power, or your permission, has unrestrained access to everything about your life. We all say Jesus is Lord, but is He really Lord in our lives? The clearest measure of the...

Seeds of Destiny 29 September 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche: The God Who Works

Image
Topic: The God Who Works [Friday September 29, 2017] Scripture:  My father worketh hitherto and I work.  John 5:17. Thought For The Day:  God works with people who are willing to work. One of the attributes of God, according to our anchor scripture, is diligence. He is a God who works. We were created in the Image of God and are, therefore, supposed to work diligently the way God works (Genesis 1:26). It is an abuse of association to be lazy as a child of God. You are not a child of God if you are not diligent like God. This attribute of diligence is seen in the lives of all the men God chose to use both in the past and in contemporary times because God is a working God. He works with people who are willing to work. To be relevant on earth, you must be a hard worker. When Joseph’s parents and brothers joined him in Egypt, he took them to Pharaoh. Then Pharaoh asked him to source for men of activity among his brothers and make them rulers over his flock (Genesis 47:6)....
