57 years old. Any positives? HAPPY INDEPENDENCE NIGERIA

Image
OCTOBER 1, 1960: How Nigerians ushered in independence ON day like this, exactly 57 years ago, Nigeria was on a festive and historic mood. It was the eve of October 1, 1960, the day that the United Kingdom had set aside to grant Nigeria independence as a sovereign state. The political and social atmosphere was astir. The reasons were not far-fetched given the dreams of the founding fathers – late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, late Sir Ahmadu Bello and late Chief Obafemi Awolowo among others as well as what the prospects of self-rule portended for the emerging black nation. Although, the then three regions -Northern, Eastern and Western had been administered by Nigerians, who superintended as premiers for six years, Nigerians could not wait to collect the mantle of leadership, at the centre, from the last British Governor-General of Nigeria, Sir James Robertson. It was thus not surprising that elaborate preparations were made, across the country, for the historic occasion. There was

Pillars of a healthy lifestyle: SLEEP

Image
Pillar 2: Sleep and Rest  "He gives His beloved sleep." Psalm 127:2 Last time on 'Secrets of a healthy lifestyle', we examined; in my opinion; the most important natural gift; water. We looked at how just a little dehydration could affect the entire body functions. In the Second Edition of this subject, we will consider yet another important pillar of health; SLEEP .  Not just sleep, but good sleep. Every night while you sleep, your body goes into a type of repair mode to regenerate and rejuvenate. Your immune system recharges. Your major organs are restored. Old cells are replaced with new ones. Your mind relaxes and orders its thoughts, creating a healthy mental and emotional state. But just as many Americans live in a state of unrecognized dehydration, many also live on the brink of mental and physical collapse because of lack of sleep. The No. 1 complaint I hear from patients who come into my office is, "I'm tired." They slump forw

Where are the FOOD WARRIORS??? Part 1

Image
Calling all Food Warriors!!! Just got word. There's a plot against Mr. Food. Turns out Mr. Poverty, Mazi pollution and Mr. Poisoning are angry with Mr. Food. But why should they be? Mr. Food has been one of the greatest blessings to mankind. Without him, we all may not still be alive. We can't let this happen ooo. Where are the food warriors?? It's our job to secure Mr. Food and make sure he is safe and available to us all. Well, ever since I heard my very dear friend Miracle Ewim brand herself as a 'Food Warrior' I've been i and wondering 'what does that mean?' First and foremost, let's know that one of the Basic Human Rights is the Right to food which is the right for people to feed themselves in dignity , implying that sufficient food is available, that people have the means to access it, and that it adequately meets the individual's dietary needs. The right to food protects the right of all human beings to be free from hunger , fo

The Drunkard Man: Never Quit!

Image
“When you feel you have pushed your life to the limit and you can’t go any further, give that obstacle one last push because that might be the one that gets you through that heavy door to success! If you don’t try that one last time, you may never know. Go for it!” Topic — The Drunkard Man: Never Quit! [Saturday, September 30, 2017] (Proverbs 4:20-26; Psalms 121:1-2). The Late Dr. Ken McFarland loved to always tell this popular, funny but inspirational story which I am sure you must have heard at one time or the other. I am led to use it today: “ A man who worked from 6 pm (night shift) – 6am normally walked home through the local town cemetery as a short-cut to his home. One night, as he was walking through the same regular route, he did not realize that during the day, a fresh grave had been dug in the very center of his path. He stepped right into the grave and started struggling to get out. His best efforts failed him. He decided to relax there till the morning when help would

DON'T BE THE GUINEA PIG!!!

Topic: Don't Be The Guinea Pig! — Saturday 30, September 2017. Memorise:   Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. –  1 Corinthians 10:6 Read:  1 Corinthians 10:1-12  (KJV) 1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as s

THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

Image
Orakwue C. J "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." The Name that was given to Him was not Jesus. The name Jesus was given to him at His birth. Even to this day, people answer the name Jesus. Christ was the name He assumed when He became full of the Spirit. 'LORD' was conferred upon Him. That is the Name: LORD Many Christians have a revelation of Jesus as Christ,  but they do not know Him as Lord. Lord refers to someone who is master, ruler, sovereign controller. It gives you a picture of one, who either by his own power, or your permission, has unrestrained access to everything about your life. We all say Jesus is Lord, but is He really Lord in our lives? The clearest measure of the

Seeds of Destiny 29 September 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche: The God Who Works

Image
Topic: The God Who Works [Friday September 29, 2017] Scripture:  My father worketh hitherto and I work.  John 5:17. Thought For The Day:  God works with people who are willing to work. One of the attributes of God, according to our anchor scripture, is diligence. He is a God who works. We were created in the Image of God and are, therefore, supposed to work diligently the way God works (Genesis 1:26). It is an abuse of association to be lazy as a child of God. You are not a child of God if you are not diligent like God. This attribute of diligence is seen in the lives of all the men God chose to use both in the past and in contemporary times because God is a working God. He works with people who are willing to work. To be relevant on earth, you must be a hard worker. When Joseph’s parents and brothers joined him in Egypt, he took them to Pharaoh. Then Pharaoh asked him to source for men of activity among his brothers and make them rulers over his flock (Genesis 47:6). A man of acti

Joyce Meyer's Daily 29 September 2017 Devotional: The Tremendous Power in the Name of Jesus

Topic: The Tremendous Power in the Name of Jesus [Friday September 29, 2017] For those whom He foreknew [and loved and chose beforehand], He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son [and ultimately share in His complete sanctification], so that He would be the firstborn [the most beloved and honored] among many believers. —  Romans 8:29 (AMP) Many people—including Christians—don't have a clue about the tremendous power in the name of Jesus. Have you ever thought about the importance of a name? A person's name represents and personifies his character, setting him apart from everyone else. When we call someone by name, we are declaring something about that person. In the same way, when we say the name of Jesus, we are not just speaking a name. We are declaring a name that embodies power—not human power, but all the power and authority of God (see Colossians 2:9-10). When we speak that name, we are describing the Person. Jesus means "Savior,&quo

Open Heavens 29 September 2017: Friday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Delayed Provision

Topic: Delayed Provision — Friday 29, September 2017. Memorise:  The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.  –  Psalm 145:15 Read:  Daniel 10:7-13  (KJV) 7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. 8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground. 10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. 11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. 12 Then said he

God's secret for Divine health pt1

Image
Don Colbert MD You don't have to live with constant sickness. If you follow God’s principles of diet and health, abundant life can be yours. The Bible tells us that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit and that we are to glorify God in them as well as in our spirits (see 1 Cor. 6:19-20). But many Christians don't look as if they are following this scriptural mandate. Rather than being fit and beautiful places for God to dwell, as a physical temple would be, their bodies are overweight, out of shape and diseased. As a result, they are hindered from accomplishing all God has for them to do, and many times their lives are cut short by disease. My goal is to change this picture by showing believers how they can become strong, healthy, disease-resistant, younger-looking, and more energetic and have improved mental clarity. It is not difficult to develop a consistently healthy lifestyle and to be set free once and for all from poor health, bad habits and disease. A

IGNORANCE; the bane of frustration

Image
How true this is!!! Most times,  we choose to put the blame on others, situations for our shortcomings and failure. There are those who keep whining about how the economy of the country is the source of all their distress. And there is yet the vast majority who are always eager to point fingers at people they consider to be enemies out to stop them. Oh! Who has bewitched us? While all these may seem like the easiest or best excuses to give, all it produces is irresponsibility, misguided actions and more Ignorance. Ignorance? Yes IGNORANCE!! This, to my opinion, is the bane of many frustrated lives, failure, and many-a-hardship. Little wonder the Bible says in Hosea 4:6a (NIV): "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge" When you lack knowledge, you lack insight, you lack direction, you lack focus. Knowledge opens up your mind and expands your horizon. Knowledge places you at a pedestal above others (in conjunction with wisdom). You cannot excel in any area yo

INTEGRITY; the real test

Have you met Mike? Mike  is a child of God. He loves God dearly and through him, God had wrought many mighty things in the lives of other students in the University. Mike had even been a fellowship leader. For the past five years in school, Mike had abided by his decision not to ever involve in sorting lecturers to have a pass. Now in his last few months; about to round up, he discovers that a particular lecturer had failed him unjustly. He meets the lecturer who demands that for Mike to pass his course and be cleared, he must drop something. Mike goes home and keeps thinking: His parents and everyone else are expecting to hear the good news of his successful graduation; His uncle has already informed him that he has a good job waiting for him once he finishes and all he needs to do is submit his documents once he’s done. To top it all, it’s not like he doesn’t have the money to sort the lecturer; he had just earned some money from the little business he started in school. Also, no o
